We're Jordy and Julia Kay, the Co-founders of Great Wrap.
Our former careers in winemaking and architecture, led us to Great Wrap when we recognised the sheer impact plastic waste was having on the land. There was a materials revolution around us, and everything was changing rapidly — yet plastic stayed the same. We knew the technology existed to end plastic waste, but there weren't any products available. So we invented the products we knew the world was missing.

Why compostable materials are the future
Composting reduces waste, enriches soil and reduces emissions. When composted, Great Wrap can reduce your carbon emissions by up to 60% compared to traditional stretch wrap.
The APCO 2025 National Packaging Targets state that 100% of packaging must be reusable, recyclable, or compostable. Additionally, 70% of plastic packaging must be recyclable or compostable. These targets apply to everyone that makes, uses and sells packaging in Australia.
Composting Great Wrap — where to start?
At home, you can place your used Great Wrap directly in your home compost bin to break down with your food waste.
At work, you can place your used compost in an on site compost or send it to an industrial compost facility in your local area. Not sure where to start? Reach out to us here.
Diversifying disposal options
Exploring a variety of disposal options for the materials we use is essential. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, and unfortunately, only 9% of plastic waste is currently recycled. Relying on a single waste model isn’t effective, so it’s time to consider alternative approaches — such as composting and compostable materials!

Our team research, analyse, and conceptualise our ideal material — all based on science. We will always use the best materials and never stop searching for ways to improve our products.
Our PhD Candidate and College Head at Monash University, Eddie Attenborough, is an integral part of the business. He is dedicated to fueling the pursuit of compostable materials, just as we are.
